How to get rolling
Usage zone explained
Pick-e-Bike works as a hybrid system: You can either park your vehicle flexibly within the parking zone or end your ride at a designated station.
Parking zone
In this zone, you can park your vehicle freely in a suitable public space.
Please follow local parking rules and be mindful of others.
No-parking zone
These areas are marked in red in the app. You’re allowed to ride through them, but you can’t end your ride there.
Tip: Some no-parking zones include stations where you can end your ride.
Stations
Here, you can end your ride by scanning the QR code on the station sign – easy, clear, and reliable.
The number in the icon shows how many vehicles are currently available at that station.
E-scooter
E-scooters are shown with a black icon.
E-Bikes
E-bikes are shown with a red icon.
Bonus vehicles
Bonus vehicles give you a CHF 1 discount and are marked in gold in the app.
Reserve and start your ride
01 Choose a vehicle
Open the app, select your preferred vehicle on the map, and reserve it with one tap.
02 Reserve for free
Your e-bike or e-scooter is reserved for up to 15 minutes – free of charge and cancelable anytime.
03 Start your ride
Once you’re ready, start the rental directly in the app – from now on, it’s billed by the minute.
04 Or scan directly
You can also start your ride by scanning the QR code on the vehicle – quick and easy.
End your ride
Within the parking zone:
Park the vehicle properly – within the parking zone not in a no-parking zone.
- Then end the ride in the app:
- Store the helmet, cover the saddle (for e-bikes)
- Take a photo of the parked vehicle and upload it in the app
At a station:
Instead of ending the ride directly, tap the QR code icon in the app and scan the code at the station sign to finish your ride.
Tip: Some stations are marked in gold. If you end your ride there, you’ll get a credit toward your rental price.
Parking – what’s allowed?
E-Bikes
If possible, park in official bicycle parking areas. If none are available, you may park the e-bike on the sidewalk – as long as at least 1.5 metres of space remains for pedestrians.
E-scooter
Only park in designated motorcycle parking zones. Tip: Public moto parking spots are marked on the map view in the app.
General rule
Do not block sidewalks, driveways or pathways. Always make sure the vehicle is accessible for the next user – think ahead and show respect.
Safety First!
Your safety comes first. That’s why wearing a helmet is mandatory on all Pick-e-Bike vehicles – and we strongly recommend wearing it at all times, even for short rides.
Always ride responsibly and according to your abilities. Stay aware of your surroundings, other road users, and make sure you can brake and react safely at all times.
Important: Never ride under the influence of alcohol or drugs – for your own safety and for everyone else on the road.
Pick-e-Bike App
At Pick-e-Bike, everything runs via the Pick-e-Bike app: locating the vehicles, opening, closing and paying. The app is available as a free download for iOS and Android.
